February 1, 2021 (Barona Reservation, Lakeside) – A domestic dispute on the Barona Reservation in Lakeside last night led to a man opening fire on deputies and a woman injured in the crossfire.

May 16, 2017 (Lakeside) – Names of the deputies involved in the fatal shooting May 10th on the Barona Reservation in Lakeside have been released by the Sheriff’s Department.  Deputy Matthew Addenbrooke fired a shotgun, Deputy Patrick Farber fired a patrol rifle, and deputies David Williams and Aaron Brooke each fired less-lethal shotguns.

CHILD'S BODY FOUND IN FREEZER, MAN ALSO DEAD: WOMAN ARRESTED FOR DOUBLE MURDER

 

Update January 22, 2015: Welch has been released and charges dropped, though an investigation continues.

Update January 17, 2015:  The body of the missing child has been found in the freezer, underneath frozen food.  Elaina Rose Welch, 32, has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder. She has been booked into Las Colinas.  The causes of death will be determined by the medical examiner. The man killed has been identified as Julio Ricardo Monggiotti, 32.

January 16, 2015 (Lakeside) – A woman has been detained following the shooting death of a  man, 32, in the 1500 block of Quincy Canyon Road on the Barona reservation in Lakeside.  Sheriff’s deputies responded shortly after noon, after receiving a radio call from a woman who said her child was dead.

Soon after, Barona Tribal Enforcement got a call reporting an attempted suicide at the same address, said Lt. John Maryon with the Sheriff’s Homicide Detail.

SWAT STANDOFF AT BARONA RESERVATION: SHOTS FIRED

 

January 16, 2015 (Lakeside) 2 p.m. – A SWAT team stand-off at Barona following a reported shooting has shut down a section of San Vicente Road.  There is a heavy law enforcement presence; avoid the area until further notice, the Sheriff advises.

A woman is in custody but the situation is ongoing, reports 10 News, which has a news crew en route to the scene.  Tribal police and the Sheriff’s Department are responding.

VICTIM OF BARONA SHOOTING NAMED


December 30, 2009 (Lakeside) – The County Coroner’s office has identified Raymundo Casillas, 43, Executive Director of the Barona Gaming Commission, as the victim who was shot and killed in his office yesterday. The gunman, Donnell Roberts, a former employee, killed himself after fatally wounding Casillas.

 

“This is a very difficult time for the Barona family and our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of this unimaginable tragedy,” a press release issued today by the Barona Gaming Commission stated, adding that the Commission is “saddened” by the loss.

MURDER-SUICIDE AT BARONA

4:27 p.m., December 29 2009 (Lakeside, CA) -- Two are confirmed dead at the Barona Gaming Commission office, Sheriff William Gore confirmed minutes ago.

 

"It appears to be a murder-suicide," said Gore, adding that homicide is investigating. The gunman, Donnell Roberts, 38, killed himself and another man whose name is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin. The shootings reportedly occurred inside the  Gaming Commission manager's office.
