POWAY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ARRESTED FOR THREATS AGAINST FELLOW STUDENT

March 1, 2013 (Poway) – A 14-year-old ninth grade student at Poway High School is in Juvenile Hall after reportedly making “terrorist threats" against a fellow student, Sargeant Chad Boudreau with the San Diego Sheriff’s Department said.

Deputies learned last night about a verbal death threat made against another student at Poway High earlier in the day. BOOK REVIEW: LOST GIRLS OFFERS CHILLING AND RIVETING INSIGHTS INTO KING AND DUBOIS MURDERS

Lost Girls, by Caitlin Rother (Kensington Publishing Corp., New York, NY, 2012, 372 pages).

Book Review by Dennis Moore

November 10, 2012 (San Diego’s East County)--New York Times Bestselling author Caitlin Rother, a San Diego resident and journalist, has written a true-crime book that I am sure will resonate with all parents: Lost Girls. Pulitzer-nominated author Rother delivers an incisive, heartbreaking true-life thriller that touches our deepest fears. It is the story of John Gardner, who raped and murdered local San Diego teens Chelsea King and Amber Dubois.

Rother dedicates her book to the memories of King and Dubois, and all other girls and boys who have been lost to sexual predators. She feels that by shedding light on these dark events, she can only hope that it will help prevent similar tragedies in the future.

CHIVALRY RIDES ON AT 6TH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT OF THE PHOENIX

By Janis Mork

October 29, 2012 (Poway)- “We thought the fires would defeat us, but instead we have risen,  phoenix-like, from the flames,” English competitor Dominic Sewell declared back in 2007. The Witch Creek fire had just ravaged our region, but organizers decided that the tournament would go on.  Hence a name for the event was born—and it’s been held ever year since, with more competitions, displays and exhibitions each year.

The 6th annual Tournament of the Phoenix took place at Poway Rodeo grounds October 27-29.
