April 4, 2017 (Washington D.C.) – The U.S. Food & Drug Administration announced that 13 lots of Mylan’s EpiPen and EpiPen Jr. are being voluntarily recalled. EpiPen injections provide emergency does of epinephrine to treat life-threatening allergic reactions.

April 3, 2017 (San Diego's East County) - Ford’s popular F-250 pickup trucks can shift into gear when parked and roll away, Ford Motor Company has announced.  The company is recalling 52,000 of these trucks.

RECALLS ON ALL-TERRAIN VEHICLES AND CHILDREN’S SCOOTERS

December 15, 2016 (Washington D.C.) – Here’s some bad news for holiday chefs:  the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announces a voluntary recall on blades of approximately 8 million Cuisinart food processors sold nationwide from July 1996 through December 2015 and manufactured in China.

SABRA RECALLS DOZENS OF HUMMUS PRODUCTS DUE TO LISTERIA CONTAMINATION

November 20, 2016 (San Diego) – The Sabra company has announced a voluntary recall of its hummus dip products after finding Listeria Monocytognes at the manufacturing facility, but not in tested finished product.

Consumers with any product with a "Best Before" date up through January 23, 2017 are urged to discard it. You can find code and "Best Before" date on the lid of each package. The recall includes all hummus products by Sabra except not organic hummus. The recall does not include other Sabra products such as guacamole, salsa, or Greek yogurt dip.

AIR BAG RECALLS

November 14, 2016 (San Diego) -- The Sheriff's Department is partnering with the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and other agencies in spreading the word about a nationwide recall to replace at-risk airbags in certain vehicles.

The recall involves vehicles, particularly Hondas and Acuras, that are equipped with Takata airbag inflators. Recall repairs are free of charge to all vehicle owners.

BEWARE OF EXPLODING SAMSUNG WASHING MACHINES

October 2, 2016 (Washington D.C.) –The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a warning about Samsung top-loading washing machines made between March 2011 and April 2016.  Some have exploded and others jolted violently, smashing holes into walls and hurling out chunks of metal and plastic, ABC news reports.

SAMSUNG RECALLS 2.5 MILLION PHONES DUE TO FIRES

September 12, 2016 (San Diego) — If you have a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phone, Samsung has a message for you:  stop using your phone and immediately bring it into the store where you bought it for a free replacement. The company has recalled 2.5 million of its new Note 7 phones due to dozens of fires caused by defective batteries.

AL SHABRAWY AND BAROODY BRAND MEATS SOLD IN CALIFORNIA RECALLED DUE TO ALLERGENS NOT LISTED ON LABELS

August 6, 2016 (Washington D.C.) - Al Shabrawy Meat Inc. is recalling meat and poultry products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. Some of the products contain pistachio nut and soy, known allergens, which are not declared on the product label. The products include salami, bologna, mortadella, sausage, soujouk and makanek meats.

June 30, 2016 (Washington D.C.) -- New test data on a particular subset of defective Takata air bag inflators in certain model-year 2001-2003 Honda and Acura vehicles show a far higher risk of ruptures during air bag deployment, prompting an urgent call from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to ensure that unrepaired vehicles in this population are found and fixed before they cause further injuries or fatalities.

SUBARU RECALL: STEERING DEFECT SO DANGEROUS YOU SHOULD STOP DRIVING NOW

May 14, 2016 (San Diego’s East County) - Subaru is recalling over 48,500 new Legacy and Outback vehicles due to a steering column defect so dangerous, the company doesn’t want you to drive at all—not even to a mechanic.  Subaru dealers will have cars towed, inspected and repaired at no cost, according to a customer service message on Subaru’s website.

ALERT: FROZEN VEGETABLE RECALL IN CA

April 24, 2016 (San Diego’s East County) - Several brands of frozen peas, corn and mixed vegetables have been recalled from stores throughout California due to possible contamination with Listeria, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections particularly in young children and the elderly.  The bacteria can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths, according to the FDA.

KRAFT HEINZ FOODS RECALLS TURKEY BACON PRODUCTS DUE TO POSSIBLE ADULTERATION

 

August 25, 2015 (Washington D.C.) – Kraft Heinz Foods Company, a Newberry, S.C. establishment, is recalling approximately 2,068,467 pounds of turkey bacon products that may be adulterated because it may spoil before the “Best When Used By” date, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The company has received reports of illness related to the consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.

GM RECALLS 300,000 VEHICLES DUE TO HEADLIGHT DEFECTS

 

December 2, 2014 (San Diego)--General Motors has ordered a recall of over 300,000 vehicles because of headlights that stop working.  The low-beams may turn off intermittently or permanently, increasing the risk of an accident.

RECALL ON 4.7 MILLION 2001-2007 VEHICLES DUE TO DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS

 

 

Consumer urged to take immediate action 

October 22, 2014 (Washington D.C.) -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration urges owners of certain Toyota, Honda, Mazda, BMW, Nissan, and General Motors vehicles to act immediately on recall notices to replace defective Takata airbags. This is the latest in a series of recalls that now span from 2001 to 2013.
