LAKESIDE'S RIVER PARK CONSERVANCY TO OPEN UP NEW TRAIL SEGMENT MARCH 8

 

February 1, 2014 (Lakeside)-- Lakeside's River Park Conservancy will open up a new segment of the San Diego River Trail on Saturday, March 8, 2014. The grand opening will be held at Lakeside Baseball Parks, 10030 Marathon Parkway, Lakeside, CA 92040.

This new San Diego River Trail segment is a huge step forward towards the overall goal of a 52-mile trail ranging from Julian down to Dog Beach. The public is invited to a grand opening day with free family-fun activities on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Lakeside Baseball Parks from 9:00am-11:00am.

 

6TH ANNUAL ONCE IN A BLUE MOON GALA DINNER & AUCTION SEPTEMBER 29

September 8, 2012 (Lakeside) – Lakeside River Park Conservancy is holding its 6th Annual Once in a Blue Moon Gala Dinner & Auction on September 29.  The event will begin with a stroll along the path at Lakeside River Park at dusk, followed by dining under the stars.

SAN DIEGO RIVERBED CLEAN-UP JANUARY 16 HONORS MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE

January 13, 2012 (Lakeside) -- Lakeside's River Park Conservancy, along with the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps, is planning a San Diego Riverbed Clean-Up in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service.

December 21, 2011 (Lakeside) --  Early in the morning on December 10 at the Lakeside River Park Conservancy, students from El Capitan High School AP Environmental Science Group, Lakeside River Valley High School, and biology students from Cuyamaca Collage joined members from AmeriCorps NCCC  for a Lakeside Community Day event. The day’s goal was to teach students how to construct habitat for small wildlife that lives along this stretch of the San Diego River.

December 7, 2011 (Lakeside) – On Saturday, December 10 AmeriCorps invites youths from our communities to join them in creating habitat at the Lakeside River Park Conservancy--and learn about the work AmeriCorps NCCC is doing. Enjoy food and refreshments, the River Park Trail, and the beautiful observation deck overlooking the worksite. SUSTAINABLE HOMES TOUR NOV. 5 SHOWCASES CREATIVE LIVING—FROM A STRAW BALE HOME TO AN AIRPLANE HANGER

 
November 4, 2011 (San Diego's East County) -- Lakeside River Park Conservancy will host a Sustainable Homes Tour on Saturday, November 5. The tour includes about 10 sites on tour, including many in East County.
 
 
These homes have a variety of sustainable applications from the construction of the homes, products, landscape and conservation. The variation from new build construction to renovations of older homes provides a broad display of opportunities and ideas for the next home owner touring the sites.

ONCE IN A BLUE MOON: LAKESIDE’S RIVERPARK CONSERVANCY CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVERSARY SEPT. 10

 

September 2, 2011 (Lakeside)-- Lakeside's River Park Conservancy will unveil a new trail as it celebrates its 10th anniversary at the Once in a Blue Moon Gala, including dinner plus live and silent auctions at twilight along the banks of the San Diego River on Saturday, September 10th.

FOR THE BIRDS: SCOUTS BUILD NESTING BOXES FOR LAKESIDE RIVER PARK

January 26, 2011 (Lakeside)--Recently the Cub Scout pack #3 from Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Catholic School donated 20 bird nesting boxes to the Lakeside River Park Conservancy. The boys had built the boxes at their meetings with the help of their dads. While they were building , the scouts also learned about conservancy and animal habitat.

BLUE MOON EVENT RAISES $12,000 FOR RIVER PARK IN LAKESIDE

 

November 4, 2010 (Lakeside) – A crowd of 240 people turned out for the Lakeside River Park Conservancy’s “Once in a Blue Moon” fundraiser, held beneath a canopy of twinkle lights along the San Diego River in Lakeside.

“It was a great success and always a lot of fun,” said Cindy Collins, membership and volunteer coordinator. The event raised about $12,000, she added.  Lakeside's River Park Conservancy was founded in 2001 with the mission to preserve and restore the biological integrity and beauty of the San Diego River while integrating recreational, education, and cultural opportunities for youth, seniors, and families East San Diego County.

ONCE IN A BLUE MOON: LAKESIDE RIVER PARK FUNDRAISER SEPT. 25

 

September 9, 2010 (Lakeside) -- Lakeside's River Park will be hosting it's 4th annual signature fundraiser, Once in a Blue Moon Dinner & Auction on September 25th, 2010. Cocktails start at 5 p..m, dinner at 7 p.m. RSVPs are required by September 15 for this unique event.

Lakeside's River Trail is used by families, students, walkers and joggers as well as dogs and horses. But on September 25th the trail is transformed into a magical space along the San Diego River.

RUN FOR THE RIVER - SATURDAY, MAY 8

May 5, 2010 (Lakeside) - Hundreds of runners and walkers will gather this Saturday in Lakeside to celebrate the 3rd Annual Run for the San Diego River 5K Trail Run and Walk. The event starts at 8 a.m. with registration at 6:30 a.m and celebrates local efforts to preserve and restore the biological integrity and beauty of the San Diego River in Lakeside.
