January 22, 2012  (San Diego)--After finding recent studies showing that one in four freshmen in the U.S. do not complete their first year of college, despite giving college a try, a team at CollegeAtHome.com decided to create an infographic that would show some of the reasons why.

Is it possible that high school students simply do not have a realistic idea of what college is actually like? Also, it may be possible that many of these students simply don’t see the point of staying in college due to the slow job market.

November 28, 2012 (El Cajon)--Like the incessant sounds of a metronome, the clock is ticking for music students working behind the scenes on the Winter Wonder Jam -- Cuyamaca College’s answer to Lollapalooza -- set for Saturday, Dec. 7, in the performing arts theater.

Open to the public, the event will showcase five local bands rocking at the Rancho San Diego college from 7-10 p.m. This year, students in the college’s Music Industry Studies Program came up with the idea of a toy and food drive for the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation and the campus food bank for needy students with families.

San Diego – July 27, 2011 – When heading back to school this fall, college students will be thinking about scheduling classes, buying books and meeting friends. Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC) advises students to add one more important activity to their back-to-school list: safeguarding personal and financial information to reduce their risk of fraud and identify theft.

Research conducted by Javelin Strategy & Research (2010) revealed it takes people ages 18 to 24 nearly twice as many days to detect fraud compared to other age groups, making them fraud victims for longer periods of time.

$5,000 Award Will Give Middle School Students Access to Laptop Computers

May 17, 2011 – Middle school students at Ramona Lutheran School are set to benefit from a $5,000 education grant awarded today by the Barona Band of Mission Indians.  Assemblyman Brian Jones (R-Santee) joined Principal Donna Myers in accepting the grant that was presented to the school by Edwin “Thorpe” Romero, Chairman of the Barona Band of Mission Indians. 

“Today’s teaching and learning process is being transformed by technology,” said Chairman Romero. “Barona is pleased to award this grant that will provide middle school students at Ramona Lutheran with access to computers.  Our hope is to enrich their educational experience and help prepare them for high school.”

Assemblymember Marty Block authored two bills, AB 2401 and AB 2402 that cleared a major hurdle when they passed out of the Assembly Appropriations Committee on May 29th.These bills will help restore guaranteed admissions for local students who meet California State University requirements.

June 4, 2010 marks the new deadline that looms ahead. All bills introduced this year must be out of their house of origin no later than next Friday, June 4.  If the Assembly does not approve AB 2401 and AB 2402 them by that date, they die.
