Wings Over Gillespie
May 30, 2013 (El Cajon)—Wing walking, mock air battles and pyrotechnics are among the attractions at this year’s Wings Over Gillespie Air Show. The event will take place June 1 and 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Gillespie Field, 1960 Joe Crosson Drive in El Cajon.
Tickets start at $8 for the event, which also features a free Kid’s Zone, amusement rides and a beer garden. This year's Wings Over Gillespie features a collection of San Diego aircraft and World War II aircraft.

June 1, 2011 (El Cajon ) – Pilots, crews, and leaders of San Diego’s aviation industry flocked to the Allen Airways Flying Museum last night, where a party was held last night for participants in the 16th annual Wings Over Gillespie Air Show. The show itself takes wing this weekend, June 3-5, at Gillespie Field in El Cajon.
Attendees at last night’s soiree, where musicians played ‘40s music, included military brass, the head of Teledyne-Ryan, current and retired pilots, community leaders, and Jean Landis—star of the documentary “She Wore Silver Wings” about her experiences in WWII flying pursuit aircraft with Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP).

June 15, 2010 (El Cajon) – Up to 10,000 people turned out to watch more than 20 different types of vintage planes as well as skydivers, historic re-enactors and pyrotechnics displays at Wings Over Gillespie last weekend. View ECM’s highlights from the event.

June 1, 2010 (El Cajon) - On June 4, 5 & 6, Air Group One, the San Diego wing of the Commemorative Air Force will present their 15th annual Wings Over Gillespie Air Show at Gillespie Field in El Cajon--complete with recreations of famous aerial battles, pyrotechnics, aerobatic stunt flying, displays, and much more.

June 10, 2009 (El Cajon) – A daredevil performance by famed stunt pilot Martin Kennedy thrilled spectators at Wings Over Gillespie, a three-day air show held June 5-7. Kennedy maneuvered a Staudacher S600, considered one of the world’s top aerobatic planes, through a series of tumbles, spins and heart-stopping freefalls that seemingly defied the laws of gravity. Kennedy, a geochemistry professor at the University of California, Riverside, also demonstrated moves he invented including the “barber pole” and the “boomerang.”

May 20, 2009 (El Cajon)—The San Diego Chapter of the Commemorative Air Force, Air Group One will present the 14th annual Wings Over Gillespie Air Show at Gillespie Field in El Cajon on June 5, 6 and 7. Each day of this memorable event will highlight WWII and Vietnam aerial battle re-enactments, in addition to pyrotechnic displays, “bombing” runs, and strafing attacks.
