OLAF WIEGHORST MUSEUM PRESENTS QUILT EXHIBIT THROUGH DECEMBER

December 13, 2018 (El Cajon) – The Olaf Wieghorst Museum at the Wieghorst Western Heritage Center, 131 Rea Ave., El Cajon, is presenting an exhibit of 25 quilts created by East County residents, including Cheryl Minshew, Daniela Stout and Sylvia Thomas. “Visitors to the Wieghorst will be impressed by the variety and creativity of patterns designed by East County residents,” said Minshew, the show’s curator. The exhibit runs through Saturday, Dec. 29.  Admission to the museum is free. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. October 28, 2018 (El Cajon) – “Cowboys & Aliens” will be shown during movie night at the Olaf Wieghorst Museum and Western Heritage Center in El Cajon on Friday, November 2nd at 7 p.m.  Doors open at 6:30.

Enjoy the movie, popcorn and refreshments from Burning Beard Brewery—all for just $7. The museum is located at 131 Rea Street in El Cajon.

Entries will be accepted in these media: oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, gouache, collage, ink, pencil, mixed media, and photography.

CALIFORNIA ART CLUB AND OLAF WIEGHORST MUSEUM HOST JURIED ART SHOW

 

November 27, 2013 (San Diego) – The works of some of San Diego County’s most talented and promising landscape artists will be on exhibit in a juried art show sponsored by the California Art Club (CAC) and hosted by the Olaf Wieghorst Museum. Landscapes of the West opened October 8 and runs through January 11, 2014, at the museum’s downtown El Cajon location at 131 Rea Avenue. El Cajon’s Olaf Wieghorst Museum is dedicated to preserving America’s western heritage. It houses the works of Olaf Wieghorst, an internationally recognized western artist whose paintings have been praised and acquired by royalty, presidents and celebrities. Born in Denmark, the self-taught artist immigrated to the United States and eventually settled in El Cajon. His restored ranch house is a local landmark and sits on museum property.

May 24, 2012 (San Diego’s East County)--The Olaf Wieghorst Western Heritage Center will present the 2nd Annual Wieghorst Western Music Jubilee!  The event will take place on Saturday, June 2, at the Cuyamaca College Performing Arts Theater in Rancho San Diego.

Belinda Gail, Sourdough Slim, The Tumbling Tumbleweeds and Tom Hiatt & The Sundown Riders, are just a few of the artists who will be entertaining. The show begins at 7:00 p.m.

A SPRING FLING FASHION SHOW APRIL 28

April 27, 2012 (El Cajon) – The Wieghorst Museum Auxillary presents “A Spring Fling Fashion Show” April 28 at the Elks Club, 1400 E. Washington Ave., El Cajon at 11:00 a.m.  The fashions will be from Peggy Harris’ Glamour Girlz with hair and makeup by Marinello School of Beauty.

The event includes a no host bar, boutique, Chinese auction and consulting.  The luncheon will begin at 12:15 p.m.

June 2, 2011 (El Cajon) -- On Saturday, June 4, 2011 The Olaf Wieghorst Museum will be holding its Western Jubilee at the Cuyamaca Performing Arts Center located at Cuyamaca College, 900 Rancho San Diego Parkway in El Cajon, California. The stars are: Rusty Richards, Belinda Gail, The Tumbling Tumbleweeds, Tom Hiatt and the Sundown Riders. The concert will benefit Wieghorst Educational Programs.

June 15, 2010 (El Cajon) – History came alive at the eighth annual Western Heritage Days June 5-6 in El Cajon, where Buffalo soldiers, ladies with parasols and Laguna Mountain men roamed the streets.

 

Entertainment also included Native American dancers, musical acts such as Tom Hiatt and the Sundown Riders, shoot-out reenactments and much more. View video highlights.
