February 25, 2024 (San Diego) -- Ten years ago, angry widespread protests erupted after Michael Brown was killed by a police officer in Ferguson, MO. Called the Ferguson uprising, Brown’s death and the aftermath of unrest and anger brought immediate attention to law enforcement methods in Ferguson and in time was seen as an indictment of policing in the country and here in San Diego1.

1ST SYNTHETIC DRUG MANUFACTURING OPERATION SEIZED IN SD COUNTY

 

Takedown Netted Thousands of Packages of Spice and Bath Salts
 
July 28, 2012 (San Diego)  –  6 individuals were arrested and more than 7000 packages of Spice and Bath Salt products were seized in a search warrant yesterday in Escondido, CA.  This operation was part of the first-ever nationwide law enforcement action against the synthetic designer drug industry responsible for the production and sale of synthetic drugs that are often marketed as bath salts, Spice, incense, or plant food.

POLICE SEEK MAN WHO ATTACKED TEEN GIRL ON ESCONDIDO STREET; $1,000 REWARD OFFERED


November 30, 2011 (Escondido) – Escondido police today released a sketch of a man who reportedly assaulted a 15-year-old girl who was walking to school. The girl told police that the man, who was dressed all in black, pushed her to the ground beside his white station wagon and tried to sexually assault her.

ESCONDIDO MAN DIES FROM STABBING WOUNDS

February 21, 2011 (Escondido) – Alvin Palmes, 28, died Friday of peritonitis due to small bowel perforation following surgery for stab wounds. His death has been ruled a homicide.

ESCONDIDO POLICE ARREST TEEN, 17, IN RAPE CASE

 

 

East County News Service --July 11, 2010 (Escondido) – Escondido police have arrested a 17-year-old juvenile who is suspected of raping and robbing a 16-year-old girl Friday morning on the flood control bike path near North Beech Street and East Valley Parkway.
