VEGETATION FIRE IN RAINBOW

East County Wildfire & Emergency Alerts

Update Sept. 6, 2021 9:45 a.m.  All evacuation orders have been lifted; the fire is 30% contained this morning.

September 5, 2021 (Rainbow) -- Cal Fire and cooperators are at the scene of a vegetation fire, southeast of the community of Rainbow in northeast San DIego County. The fire is approximately 40-50 acres with a moderate rate of spread. 

Evacuation orders are now in effect for areas in the community.  A temporary evacuation point has been set up at Vallecitos Elementary School.

June 4, 2016 -- We have reports and updates on several fires burning across southern California including I-15 between Rainbow and Temecula, the Pala fire in San Diego's north county, and a hay truck on fire near the county line in Inkopah on I-8.

RAINBOW MAN DIES AFTER WOOD-CHIPPING ACCIDENT

 

December 16, 2010 (Rainbow) – Martimiano Morales Carreon, 49, died on December 14th of injuries that he suffered after his foot became entangled in a pile of brush, pulling him into a commercial wood chipper at 9329 Moon Ridge Road, Rainbow.

 

The victim had been working with his son to clearn trees next to an avocado grove when the tragedy occurred.

BRUSH FIRE NEAR RAINBOW SLOWS TRAFFIC

 

September 24, 2010 (Rainbow) -- The evening commute is slow on I-15 in north San Diego County due to a 5-10 acre brush fire near Rainbow. Forward spread has been halted, Cal-Fire reports. No further details are available at this time.
