June 17, 2023 (San Diego) — C. Hook Theater will present  “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” June 21-24 at the Ray & Joan Kroc Performing Arts Theatre (6611 University Ave., San Diego).

 

The musical is based on the beloved characters created by Charles Shultz in the comic strip “Peanuts.”

CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY THEATER DELIVERS: TRADITIONS OF CHRISTMAS 2014

January 4, 2015 (San Diego)--Christian Community Theater of El Cajon delivered a charming and amazingly comprehensive Christmas experience to theatre enthusiasts performed this year at the Don Powell Theatre on the campus of San Diego State University from December 19th through 23rd, 2014, with the 21st Annual Traditions of Christmas, A Musical Spectacular. San Diego theater enthusiasts enjoyed an evening of holiday cheer in the form of musical theater, performed to a live band conducted by Ryan Beard. The entire show from beginning to end was an absolute delight for all ages.

HEART OF GOLD, NERVES OF STEEL: KUMEYAAY ELDER CHARLIE BROWN

November 14, 2014 (Alpine) – It takes courage to jump out of an airplane into a raging forest fire—and a big heart to work on behalf of burn victims and other charitable causes.  Kumeyaay elder Charlie Brown has done all of these things and more.  He’s been honored as a Healthcare Hero, nominated by the Burn Institute. He's also lived through tumultous changes that swept across Native American reservations in East County as a result of tribal gaming.

This month, he sat down with East County Magazine Tribal Beat reporter Leon Thompson for an exclusive interview, reflecting on his career as a U.S. Forest Service hot shot, his philanthropic efforts, and the dramatic changes that the Kumeyaay nation in San Diego County has seen as a result of Indian gaming.

ALPINE VIEJAS DAYS SUNDAY OCT. 3; PARADE HONORS HEROES

September 30, 2010 (Alpine) – “Honoring our Heroes” is the theme of this year’s Alpine Viejas Days Parade this Sunday, October 3rd at 2 p.m. A full day of family-friendly events from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. also include an Alpine Craft and Vendor fair, a Health Fair, as well as opening ceremony at 10 a.m. The Viejas band of the Kumeyaay nation sponsors the day’s events, along with the Alpine Stagecoach Lions Club presenting the parade.
