September 19, 2014 (La Mesa)—Drew Ford, a fixture in La Mesa with roots dating back to 1927, has sold to SoCalPenske. Mallory Lee, agency manager at Drew Ford, confirmed the sale to ECM reporter Janis Russell, adding that she believes Penske will keep the facility a Ford dealership.

May 1, 2010 (La Mesa) -- Three East County youngsters are going to Akron, Ohio, this July to compete in the National All-American Soap Box Derby. They will be winners of their divisions in the 8th Annual Drew Ford-Kiwanis Club of La Mesa Soap Box Derby. Who will they be?
That won’t be known until race day, Saturday, May 22, on Junior High Drive adjacent to La Mesa Middle School.

November 8, 2009 (La Mesa) --“If Bryce Taylor can do it, I can do it.”
That’s been the attitude among many area youngsters as they prepared to compete in two days of Soap Box Derby Rally Races, with the final rounds today. The event is sponsored by Drew Ford and the Kiwanis Club of La Mesa. The race course is down Junior High Drive adjacent to La Mesa Middle School. Highwood Park is the staging area.

Two East County youngsters, winners of the Drew Ford/Kiwanis Club of La Mesa 7th Annual Soap Box Derby on May 16, will compete in the All-American National Soap Box Derby in Akron, Ohio, in late July.
Bryce Taylor, 11, of Santee emerged as champion of the stock division. Super stock division champion was Hannah Lamb, 10, of El Cajon. The double-elimination derby was run down Junior High Drive next to La Mesa Middle School. Trophies were awarded for the top four finishers in each division:
