EAST COUNTY CHAMBER ANNOUNCES WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP NOMINEES

September 25, 2023 (El Cajon) – The San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce has released the names of its 2023  Women in Leadership Nominees.

Winners will be announced at the annual Women in Leadership luncheon. This year’s event will be held on Friday, October 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sycuan Casino Resort. 

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Connie Marjano, a retired U.S. Navy Rear Admiral and former White House physician to three presidents. She later became a consultant in the Mayo Clinic’s executive health program  and founded the Center for Executive Medicine. She is a former radio talk show host of  “House Calls” on Voice of America and is the author of the book, The White House Doctor: My Patients were Presidents, A Memoir.

September 26, 2017 (La Mesa) – The San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce recently honored eight women with 2017 Women in Leadership Luncheon (WILL) awards. Now in its 15th year, the annual WILL event honors women for their outstanding leadership, exemplary character and integrity in the community, as well as their efforts to empower women to succeed and prosper in life and business, Chamber officials said. The awards event was held Friday, Sept. 22 at the Town and Country Resort Hotel in Mission Valley

October 19, 2015 (San Diego’s East County) -- The San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce has honored eight women with Women in Leadership Luncheon (WILL) awards.

Honorees included: Mara Fortin, Nothing Bundt Cakes; Carey Guthrie, Pacific Southwest Association of Realtors; Molly Nocon, Noah Homes; Erica Pinto, Jamul Indian Village; Miriam Raftery, East County Magazine; Elizabeth Smith Chavez, Smith Chavez Law; Wendy Urushima-Conn, Asian Business Association; Shelly Zimmerman, San Diego Police Department.

According to Leah McIvor, 2015 event chair, a record 41 nominees were considered by the committee for the awards program, now in its 13th year. She said the recipients were honored for their outstanding leadership, exemplary character and integrity in the community, as well as their efforts to empower women to succeed and prosper in life and business.

WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP LUNCHEON OCTOBER 16

October 10, 2015 (San Diego’s East County) -- The East County Chamber of Commerce Annual Women in Leadership Luncheon will observe its 13th anniversary at Mission Valley’s Town and Country Resort Hotel on Friday, October 16th from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  The luncheon honors San Diego County women, recognized by their peers as exemplary leaders. East County Magazine Editor Miriam Raftery is among the nominees.

Women will be honored in seven fields: Arts/Media/Culture; Business; Education/Academia; Hospitality; Government/Defense; Healthcare, and the Non-profit Sector. Nominees must be San Diego County residents and have demonstrated exemplary character, integrity and outstanding leadership, not only in their field, but in their community.

November 19, 2010 (San Diego’s East County) – Women leaders in six categories were honored at the San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce 2010 Women in Leadership luncheon. More than 350 guests attended the event on October 29th at the Doubletree Hotel in Mission Valley. Each year the Chamber sifts through and considers a host of qualified candidates to honor in six different categories – Business, Non-Profit, Education, Government, Healthcare and Arts/Culture/Media - at its annual luncheon.
