November 25, 2018 (San Diego) - Drug cartels are using teens to smuggle a variety of contraband across the border. But once a teen has been caught at the border smuggling drugs and is on the law enforcement radar, drug cartels use them for another illegal purpose: recruiting.

CBP OFFICERS STOP TEENAGERS ALLEGEDLY SMUGGLING FENTANYL AND COCAINE

April 2, 2018 (San Diego) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the San Ysidro port of entry thwarted two alleged narcotic smuggling attempts after discovering one teen carrying packages of fentanyl strapped to his body and a young woman concealing fentanyl and cocaine in her vehicle.

April 25, 2014 (San Diego)—U.S. Attorney Laura Duffy today unsealed a complaint revealing charges filed against 35 people, including many alleged members and associates of the West Coast Crips criminal street gang.  The defendants, include many from East County.  They face charges of participating in three drug- and gun-related conspiracies, including one that alleges a racketeering enterprise with execution-style murders, a takeover-style robbery, high-speed chases, witness intimidation and other acts of violence.

FEDS FIND BORDER TUNNEL, SEIZE 30 TONS OF MARIJUANA

 

November 3, 2010 (San Diego) – The San Diego Tunnel Task Force uncovered a sophisticated 600-yard underground cross-border tunnel overnight, the U.S. Justice Department Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) reveals. Approximately 30 tons of marijuana seized in the US and Mexico have been linked to the tunnel.
