April 12, 2015 (Alpine)—Teddy and Baloo, two “moon” bears (also known as Himalayan black bears) were released this week into a new multi-acre habitat at the Lions, Tigers and Bears sanctuary in Alpine.

“We were so happy to see these bear brothers romping and playing in their new home,” says Bobbi Brink, owner and founder of the nonprofit sanctuary.  “Teddy and Baloo give their ‘paw’ of approval to their enriching new habitat.”

Area residents have donated to fund the new lifetime habitat for the bears, which were rescued from a private zoo owner unable to continue caring for the animals.

Brink urges, “Be sure to come and visit Teddy, Baloo and the rest of the animal crew soon!”
