September 6, 2011 (Rancho Penasquitos) San Diego Police Department Sex Crimes detectives are investigating a sexual assault on two teen girls at knifepoint in a Rancho Penasquitos park on Saturday night, September 3. The suspects, both Hispanic men, remain at large.

Around 8:30 p.m., two girls ages 15 and 16 left a family party at a home in the area of 12600 Spindletop Road and went to a nearby park to talk.  As the girls were sitting under a tree, the two suspects walked past them on a path. The girls were not concerned about the men once they walked out of sight, but the two men attacked the girls from behind. One suspect put a knife to the throat of one girl while the second suspect put his hand over the other girl’s mouth, according to SDPD Lieutenant Andra Brown.

The suspects told the girls not to scream and they would not be hurt. The assailants forced the victims, at knifepoint, to walk a short distance to a more secluded area in the park, where they sexually assaulted both girls. The assault ended when relatives of the girls called their names while looking for them. The suspects directed the girls to walk away in one direction while they rode away on a bicycle in the opposite direction.

The suspects are described as clean shaven Hispanic males, between 18-20 years old, 5’6” with average builds. One suspect was armed with a knife. He is described as wearing a hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head. The second suspect is described as wearing a white t-shirt with a Padres logo on the front and a flat-brimmed baseball cap.

Anyone with information concerning these cases is asked to contact the San Diego Police Department’s Sex Crimes Unit at (619) 531-2210 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
