August 16,2010 (San Diego’s East County) – Thunderstorms are forecast for San Diego’s mountain and desert areas for this afternoon and evening. A chance of thunder showers continues tomorrow.

Risk of flash flooding is minimal, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service advises “when it roars, stay indoors”: go inside at the first sound of thunder and remain inside until 30 minutes after the storm passes, since lighting can strike many miles from where a thundercloud appears, even in blue skies.
