TOW TRUCK DRIVER KILLED BY HIT AND RUN DRIVER ON HIGHWAY 52

February 24, 2017 (San Diego’s East County) — A tow truck driver assisting a disabled vehicle on the right-hand shoulder of State Route 52 eastbound was hit by a Ford Explorer yesterday at 5:08 p.m.  and died at the scene.

The driver of the Explorer, Michael Gilbert Gray, 48, fled the scene and was stopped by an off-duty officer who witnessed the crash.

Gray was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence causing injury or death, fleeing the scene of a crash causing injury or death, and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, said Officer Robert Catano with the California Highway Patrol.
