March 30, 2016 (San Diego) -- The Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) is scheduling extra Trolley service to accommodate 50,000 fans expected in East Village on Monday, April 4 when the Padres meet the L.A. Dodgers on Opening Day at Petco Park.

MTS announces that you can purchase Trolley day passes right on your mobile phones using the free mTicket app and park for free at an MTS park-and-ride facility.  To get your mobile app go to mTicket@sdmts.com on your mobile phone.

All three Trolley lines will drop fans off at the doorstep to Petco Park.  Trolleys depart a minimum of every 15 minutes most of the day and every 7.5 minutes until crowds diminish.

Padres fans who ride the Trolley avoid traffic and park for free at one of many park-and-rides available including Qualcomm Stadium.

Trolley stops with high capacity free parking are as follows:

  • Qualcomm Stadium: 5,000 free parking spots (Green Line)
  • Palm Avenue: 499 free parking spots (UC San Diego Blue Line)
  • El Cajon Transit Center: 469 free parking spots (Orange Line/Green Line)
  • Spring Street: 404 free parking spots (Orange Line)
