December 19, 2014 (San Diego’s East County) - Earlier this week, we reported on a brazen bulldozer theft caught on surveillance video in Lakeside.

Now we have some good news to report from our news partner, 10 News.   10 News aired film of thieves rolling out the 18-ton dozer, moving aside boulders as they drove the vehicle over a riverbed and up into the back of a flatbed truck. After TV viewers saw the video on 10 News, THEY solved the crime.

Tipsters led Sheriff’s investigators to Tecate, where the semi truck used in the heist was found.  The stolen bulldozer was also recovered, though it had been stripped of parts and was damaged.

Brian Crow, the owner of Bill Signs Trucking, where the vehicle was stolen from, said he received hundreds of leads.  The crooks hot-wired the vehicle before making off with it – but thanks to alert citizens, the $300,000 bulldozer will be back with its rightful owner—just in time for Christmas.
