June 12, 2014 (San Diego)--If your blood type is O-positive, the San Diego Blood Bank wants your blood.

The Blood Bank announced this week that it has a shortage of O-Positive, the universal donor blood type which is the only blood that can safely be given to trauma patients when there is no time to test for blood type.

"O-negative donors are urgently needed to give blood immediately at San Diego Blood Bank donor centers and bloodmobiles," said Jackie Vella of the blood bank. "This shortage is being caused by a patient suffering from severe trauma and low donor turnout over the last few weeks."

To find out the location of a blood mobile or blood bank donor center near you, you can visit www.sandiegobloodbank.org, or call (800) 469-7322.
