February 4, 2011 (Alpine) – Chinese New Year kicked off at Viejas Casino yesterday with the opening of Emerald Asian Cuisine.

Owned and operated by San Diegan Mike Lee and his family, Emerald Asian Cuisine is known for its award-winning Chinese and Vietnamese dishes, including authentic pho, Vietnamese coffee, Banh Mi, and much more.

The Lee family also owns  the well-known Nori Sushi Bar & Grill in San Diego County, located in the Viejas Outlets across from Viejas Casino. The opening marks the second Emerald Asian Cuisine restaurant in San Diego and the first time in its 20-year history that Viejas Casino has partnered with an outside management company to bring an established brand to the casino floor.

“We are thrilled to have Emerald Asian Cuisine open here at Viejas Casino,” said General Manager David Williams. “Mike Lee and his family are known for bringing unparalleled Asian cuisine to San Diego County and we share their commitment to providing guests with the highest-quality food and customer service.”

“Our family restaurant business was founded by my father, Master Chef Man Chiu Lee,” said Mike Lee. “He wanted to bring the traditional taste of fine Hong Kong dining to San Diego, and I am proud to continue that tradition at Viejas Casino, which has an equally stellar reputation as one of Southern California’s premier destinations.”

A tribal blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremony were held during yesterday’s grand opening at the restaurant’s new location, inside the south entrance of Viejas Casino on Willows Road in Alpine.
