May 7, 2014 (El Cajon) - The City of El Cajon needs volunteers to help with the assembly of a one-of-a-kind, customized playground at Wells Park on June 5th and June 7th.  The existing playground at Wells Park is in need of replacement. A new playground will provide youth with a new area to play and have fun.

The City of El Cajon, Foresters, Stoney’s Kids, Boys & Girls Club of East County and KaBOOM! (a national non-profit organization that has built more than 2,400 playgrounds) have designed a customized playground for Wells Park.

The playground, funded primarily by Foresters, was created from personal drawings and local community members’ input collected during a recent special design day on April 3. The input came from all ages, children through seniors.

The playground "building days" will take place on June 5 and June 7. Wells Park is located at 1153 East Madison Avenue in El Cajon.  Hours will be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on June 5th, and on June 7th, hours will be 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

“We are looking for 150 volunteers,” said Monica Zech, spokesperson for El Cajon.  Volunteers must preregister and those with construction skills are especially needed.

If you would like to help build the playground, call (619) 873-1641.
