WATER CONSERVATION GARDEN ANNOUNCES JULY CLASSES & ACTIVITIES

July 10, 2015 (Rancho San Diego)—From “dog days” strolls with your canine companion to classes on turf-tossing and glass-making, a stargazing party, a wine walk and an evening of music with the San Diego Concert Band, the Water Conservation Garden at Cuyamaca College has a wealth of enriching activities and events coming up later in July.

Here are highlights:

 

Leaf Imprint Glass-Making Class

Saturday, July 18th, 10:00 am - 12:00 noon

Join Debbie Solan of FusionGlass in a creative glass-making experience that ends with a unique piece of botanical art made by you.  Bring 2-3 leaves for imprinting, or search for the perfect specimens at The Garden.  Class includes all supplies, instruction, and firing of two art pieces that you will keep.

$30 Garden Members; $50 Non-Members.

VIP Member Stargazing Party

Sunday, July 19th, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join local astronomer George Varga, to get a spectacular view of a crescent, waxing moon and planets such as Venus, Jupiter and the rings of Saturn.  We will be celebrating the 46th Anniversary of the Apollo Landing with special star-themed cookies, moon pies, Swiss cheese and other out-of-this world refreshments.

Wine and Walk: An Evening Stroll in The Garden

Wednesday, July 22nd, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

 

Enjoy a beautiful summer evening, a glass of wine, and a guided journey through The Garden to discover little known plant facts with landscape designer Jan Tubiolo.

Toss the Turf Class

Sunday, July 26th, 10:00 am - 12:00 noon

 

More Beauty, Less Water, More Fun!

With ongoing drought conditions, now is the time to remove your thirsty lawn and replace it with a beautiful  water-saving landscape.  Instructor and landscape designer,

Jan Tubiolo, will guide you through all the steps to create a brag-worthy turf-free space.  Special drought discussion  with Otay Water District for homeowners will conclude

this water-saving workshop.

An Evening of Music

with the San Diego Concert Band

Sunday, July 26th, 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

 

The Garden welcomes the return of the San Diego Concert Band for a third-annual joint fundraising concert that will showcase an outstanding evening of pops, classics, marches, and brand-new compositions from the Band's repertoire.  Special discounts for students, seniors and military.

$15 General Admission; $12 Garden Members;

$12 Students, Seniors (55+), & Military with ID.

ONGOING PROGRAMS

•             Dog Days of Summer, Wednesdays, 4-7pm. Walk The Garden Wednesday evenings with your canine friends. Now thru August 26th.
