November 7, 2012 (El Cajon )—In one of the few victories for local conservatives thus far in the November 2012 elecitons, Councilmembers Tony Ambrose and Bill Wells have won reelection to the El Cajon City Council with 18.25% and 16.26% of the vote in the 8-person field. Councilman Bob McClellan is the likely victor in the third seat, with a narrow edge over challenger Ben Kalasho, 14.95% to 13.95%.

Although 100% of votes are reported counted, this does not include provisional ballots.  Kalasho, a Democrat and member of the city’s Iraqi Chaldean population, trails McClellan by just 111 votes.

Issues in the race have included taxes, economic revitalization, and reopening the East County Performing Arts Center.

Lily Schworm received 10.85%, Kathy Spacone 10.34%, Christopher Shamoon 8.23%, and Duane Swainston 7.17%.

Disgusted with Mayor and Council

Way to go El Cajon, you just re-elected dumb and dumber. They have deceived the people with their lies. The mayor and council wanted to tear down the east county performing arts center which would cost millions and then build a 5 star Marriott hotel overlooking apartments and bums, leasing it to them for a dollar a year for 65 years! Now they decide to change their mind because they’re in the spotlight?

The mayor and current council have done nothing for the city of El Cajon. These are the guys who were pushing for Prop D to pass which made El Cajon a charter city. This doesn’t help us! It helps them because this gives them more power and money.

Bill Wells, Tony Ambrose, and Bob McClellan have banners that read NO NEW TAXES… gee thanks because the other ones that they pushed for are killing us already. El Cajon is the poorest city in the county with the highest sales tax and they’re the ones who did that! They claim the people voted for it but who do think put it on the ballot people? They don’t care about us! When Bill Well’s first got elected, within 2 years he decides to run for assembly. Now we know what his intentions are, he doesn’t care about the people of El Cajon. He only cares about himself. Their banners also read BALANCED BUDGET… last time I checked it’s the law to balance the budget, what do they want a pat on the back? It’s like someone telling me hey I wore my seatbelt today… it’s the law and common sense! McClellan has been in there way too long and really has nothing to show for it. The council spent 2 million dollars on a stupid duck pond; imagine what we could have done with that money… such a waste!

God help us!
