June 15, 2011 (La Mesa) -- The Grossmont Healthcare District’s Dr. William C. Herrick Community Health Care Library, 9001 Wakarusa St. in La Mesa, will host a free seniors discussion group on “Whole Raw Food,” featuring a presentation from Cindy Douglas, a certified raw foods educator from Whole Raw Food Now (www.wholerawfoodnow.com),  from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 22. The public is invited to attend. RSVP is not required.

Raw foods consist of unprocessed whole foods that have not been heated above 115 degrees Fahrenheit, which allows foods to keep their important enzymes and amino acids. Adding raw food to a diet can result in weight loss, increased energy, improved digestion and better overall health, according to Kathy Quinn, library director. The presentation will feature cooking tips and the latest science. Handouts will be provided and light refreshments will be served, including raw food smoothie samples, said Quinn. Douglas has earned a certification in raw foods from the Living Light Culinary Institute in Fort Bragg, Calif.*

Max Sturman's book seems to endorse the good nutrition recommended. His book, "Obesity, The Solution," actually has recipes for good nutrition.
