June 15, 2012 (El Cajon) – The Olaf Wieghorst Museum & Western Heritage Center, 131 Rea Ave, El Cajon will host an exhibition of nationally known local artists Grace Schlesier, Jack Jordan and Mark Martensen June 29 through August 29.  The opening night Meet the Artists Reception will be held on June 29 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Wine and light hors d’oeuvres will be served.

This is a rare opportunity to see Schlesier’s traditional Hudson River style paintings up close.  Having painted for over forty years, Schlesier’s paintings have become highly desirable.  Her collectors claim she is a modern day Hudson River School painter.

Recently Schleisier heard about the Old Hooper Ranch in East County being demolished and decided to preserve the ranch in her oil paintings.  The ranch has been purchased by a developer and will be turned into a housing development.  Some of the ranch paintings will be included in the Wieghorst show.

Her work appears in juried shows and galleries in California, the East Coast and at prestigious invitational National shows.  She is a signature member of the American Impressionist Society, Oil Painters of America, American Women Artists, California Art Club and others.  Her work has been published in many publications, such as “Art of the American West” and international artists’ magazines.

Most recently Schlesier was featured in the November-December 2011 issue of “Art of the West” magazine which included her in ten of the top women artists in America.
