May 3, 2016 (San Diego) - Game two of Colorado vs. San Diego saw Eddie Butler on the mound for Colorado and Andrew Cashner for San Diego.

Usually, Trevor Story hits the home runs for the Rockies.  But tonight, it was Charlie Blackmon.  He hit his seventh leadoff (that’s right, we’re back to typical Padres baseball) home run to give the Rocks a 1-0 lead.  Mark Reynolds hit a sacrifice fly to right to drive home Story and the Rocks went up 2-0.

Colorado continued their dominance in the second.  Story singled and Jon Jay couldn’t make the diving catch.  D.J. LeMahieu came home and the score was 3-0 Rockies.

The Padres got two back in the fourth on Matt Kemp’s and Brett Wallace’s solo homers, making the score 3-2 Rockies.

In the sixth, the Padres finally tied the game on Wil Myers’ double, scoring Jay.  3-3.  Brett Wallace hit another double to drive Myers home and the Padres had their first lead of the game, 4-3.  Alexei Ramirez chopped a single up through center to score Adam Rosales and the Padres took a two-run lead, 5-3.

Myers hit a looper to left for a single and Jay scored to give the Padres a 6-3 lead.  They’d take that as the final score.  Game three is tomorrow at 12:40 p.m.

In transaction news, Padres pitcher Robbie Erlin will have Tommy John surgery.
