March 23, 2011 (El Cajon) -- Main Street 5 Gallery (www.mainstreet5gallery.com) is presenting a solo show by award-winning watercolorist Chuck McPherson. The opening reception will take place on Friday, March 25 from 5 to 9 p.m., when you can come meet the artist, see some of his artwork and enjoy refreshments in a fun, lively atmosphere.
The gallery is in the heart of downtown El Cajon at 124 East Main Street and is owned and operated by local photographic artist and promoter Esther Beish (www.eyesofesther.com). She is enthusiastic about this upcoming event, describing McPherson as the “Wizard of Watercolor.”
She adds that his “wild and daring approach“ to painting is influenced by the “California Style,” known for bold designs painted intuitively and directly with little or no preliminary pencil drawing.
McPherson has received over thirty awards for his paintings since 2008 alone, and has a reputation for being unique and flamboyant, often painting live before large crowds. Watercolor is his medium of choice and he paints full-time, following his passion. He is considered by many to be one of the next big names in the art world.
