December 18, 2015 (Lakeside) --  A woman driving a silver 2002 Infinity on Los Coches Road drove onto an exit ramp and entered Interstate 8 east, heading in the wrong direction at 10:08 p.m. last night.  She collided with a black 2015 Jeep Patriot, which rolled onto its right side.

The Infinity driver was not wearing a seat belt.  She was transported by ambulance to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.  The Jeep driver and passenger were wearing seat belts, but were trapped in their vehicle. California Highway Patrol responded to the scene and extricated them both.  They were taken to Sharp Grossmont Hospital with minor to moderate injuries.

Two eastbound lanes were closed during the rescue, with traffic detoured off the freeway.

Alcohol and drugs are suspected to have been a factor in this traffic collision.  The investigation is continuing.
