May 29, 2012 (San Diego’s East County) – The Banner Fire is now 100% contained, after scorching 5,321 acres.    The blaze, which started in the Banner Grade area near Julian, cost $4 million in firefighting expenditures to date.

“The cause of the Banner Fire was determined to be equipment use,” Cal Fire Battalion Chief Nick Schuler announced today. Cal-Fire would not disclose the type of equipment or who owns it. “Due to an ongoing investigation, no further details are currently available," Schuler added.
