WILL POWER REPORT: INSTANT REPLAY FOR BASEBALL

Nothing but the Truth!

Instant Replay for Baseball

October 23, 2009 -- I love baseball- in spite of the drugs, the drinking, the cheating, and the high salaries. But I hate the egregiously bad calls which affect the outcome of games, series, careers, and franchises.

DOLLAR WISE DIVAS: SAVE MONEY, CREATE HALLOWEEN COSTUMES FOR LESS!

Share creative ideas to assist people of all ages with tips to save money and improve their lifestyle!

By Nancy and Dawn Clement

October 22, 2009 (San Diego’s East County)-Costumes are not about how much money you spend. You could spend hundreds of dollars and still have a less-than-exciting costume. What make a costume great is a little creativity--along with a few accessories. For example, take a man in an ordinary suit, slick back his hair, give him a pencil thin mustache and a string tie, and voila – Clark Gable! Take the same man, in the same suit, give him a wide tie, spectators, and a waist chain, and you have a Mobster. The clothes you wear are a mere canvas on which to paint your costume.

October 15, 2009 (Rancho San Diego)—Spinners is a treat for your taste buds--Mediterranean food like you have never experienced before. You won’t see food presented like this in any fast food restaurant anywhere. Each selection is served with colorful and delicious exclamations. My plate had slow-roasted gyros, pickled turnips, olives and rose-cut radishes--along with pita wedges and a spicy jalapeño hummus.  On my first visit,  I also sampled couscous, an amber-hued bulgar wheat dish, and fresh tabouleh on the side. The only thing ‘fast food’ about “Spinners” is the price.

VOTER'S WATCHDOG: TOP TEN PROBLEMS WITH EXPANDING ABSENTEE VOTING

Absentee voting has been expanded in 25 states. This reduces public controls and expands opportunity for election fraud.

By guest columnist Bev Harris, Founder

www.BlackBoxVoting.org

October 13, 2009 -- Risky electoral conditions are being introduced because someone says "Why don't we just mail ballots?" Election officials are pitching vote by mail as convenient and safe. Journalists don't always obtain an opposing point of view before publishing stories on this risky new trend. Half the USA has now shifted to no-fault absentee voting. Here is an opposing point of view, along with sources and citations for vote-by-mail incidents.

SYLVIA’S SOAPBOX: SENATOR MAX BAUCUS GIVES AID AND COMFORT TO….THE INSURANCE COMPANIES

By Sylvia Hampton

October 11, 2009 (San Diego)--After all the right-wing screaming at town hall meetings that “government run health care“ would kill granny and throw the country into a communist state, we find from a recent New York Times/CBS News poll that 65% favor a public option plan to compete with private for-profit insurance companies.

But the powerful Democratic Senator from Montana, Max Baucus, Chair of the powerful Senate Finance Committee caved into the powerful insurance lobby and his bill has no public option---just a mandate that everyone buy insurance and anyone who doesn’t gets fined. Baucus reported $1,763,799 in donations from the health industry for just his last election.

WILL POWER REPORT: TAX CREDITS FOR CLEAR CUTS?

Nothing but the Truth!

By Will Power

September 28, 2009--American Banks and Brokers are so desperate for new financial instruments that they invent entire new commodities to trade- such as “carbon credits” . The idea is to slow global warming by encouraging green business practices. But the market has been a bust, like in New Zealand, where carbon credits that once went for $7.00 a share are now worth 25 cents.

No matter! In fact, “Green” Governor Arnold “Terminator” Swartzenegger, who received $100,000 from Sierra Pacific Logging, muscled through a decision that allows loggers who clear-cut California forests to claim a “carbon credit” for decimating the environment. According to Arnold, clear-cutting is "Green"!

Nothing but the Truth!

September 4, 2009-- Big surprise! Another fire in LA County will cost millions to extinguish. Firefighters come from Shasta County to get in on the juicy overtime. Private contractors lease out bulldozers and aircraft at ridiculous rates to save the homes of the foolish rich who build in canyons and on ridge-tops.

SIMPLE WISDOM: CAN YOU SAY NO WHEN YOU NEED TO?

By Penelope Andrade

July, 2009 (San Diego) -- Can you say no when you need to? It's often hard to say no . . . especially to people in positions of authority. An airplane once crashed because the crew was afraid to confront the captain. The captain was distracted by a landing gear malfunction and failed to notice the fuel gauge dropping to empty.

POLICY MATTERS: ONE PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND DOLLAR$

July 1, 2009 (San Diego’s East County)--Yes, I know a picture is worth a thousand words, but it could also be worth a thousand (or THOUSANDS OF) dollars!

I can't tell you the number of times in my 30+ year career in the insurance business that I've listened to a distraught policyholder after a loss struggle to remember everything that was stolen or lost in a fire. Many times I'll get a call many months after the loss because the client just discovered that, "They got my Grandma's silver too. We didn't realize it until we were setting the table for Thanksgiving dinner."

POLICY MATTERS: HOW TO REVIEW YOUR HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE RENEWAL STATEMENT

By Dennis Volz

June 2009 (San Diego’s East County)--For most of us, our home is our single largest and most important investment. Many of us have poured thousands of dollars and countless hours into maintaining, improving and (hopefully) paying off our homes. Many people own their homes free of any mortgage. These assets are pure equity. Certainly its worthwhile to invest 15 minutes a year to be sure it's properly insured.

POLICY MATTERS: HOW TO REVIEW YOUR AUTO INSURANCE RENEWAL STATEMENT

By Dennis Volz

May 2009 (San Diego’s East County)--You can save TONS OF MONEY by just taking a few minutes to look over that annoying little renewal statement that has your insurance bill attached to it.

We sure get a lot of paper these days. It seems that in this paper-LESS society, we shouldn't have quite as much paper as we do. And although we can scan it, archive it, or just throw it away. There is one piece of paper that you'll want to pay attention to -- It’s your Auto Insurance Renewal Statement. You'll get these once or twice a year depending on how often your auto insurance renews. You'll probably also get one whenever you adjust your coverage or change vehicles.

WILL POWER: ULTERIOR MOTIVES

Nothing but the Truth!

June 21, 2009--As California lurches towards insolvency, the supply-siders who wrecked the system now propose to turn over the state’s assets to private parties. The most valuable and scenic properties, the California State Parks, are now going to be rented out for private “management”. It’s the first step towards selling them outright to developers.
