June 10, 2010 (San Diego) –Victoria Wilkerson, 19, of San Diego has been arrested for suspicion of robbing banks in Spring Valley, the College area, and Mission Valley. San Diego FBI Special Agent in Charge Keith Slotter announces the arrest of Victoria Wilkerson yesterday at 10 a.m. in the 4000 block of Vandever in San Diego, California.

Police seek getaway vehicle, a silver Ford Explorer


June 9, 2010 (San Diego’s East County) – Two robbers held up a Wells Fargo Branch on Navajo Road near State Route 125 in the Lake Murray area at 9:45 this morning. “They burst in and ordered customers to the floor,” an employee at another Wells Fargo branch informed ECM, adding that the robbers wore ski masks. A San Diego Police bulletin indicates thieves wore dark pants and hooded sweatshirts.

GEEZER BANDIT STRIKES AGAIN, ROBS U.S. BANK IN POWAY

June 8, 2010 (Poway) – The “Geezer Bandit” has struck for the tenth time, robbing the U.S. Bank at 14837 Pomerado Road in Poway (inside Albertsons grocery store) yesterday at 2:54 p.m.

 

The FBI, San Diego Police Department and San Diego Sheriff’s Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the unknown male bank robber believed responsible for holding up 10 banks in San Diego County since August 2009.

POLICE SEEK MAN FOR ATTEMPTED RAPE OF 14-YEAR-OLD IN KENSINGTON

 

June 7, 2010 (San Diego) – San Diego Police have mounted a manhunt for a man who assaulted a 14-year-old girl this morning in Kensington. The girl was walking north on 41st Street near Monroe Avenue at 9:30 a.m. when a Hispanic man in his 30s with a goatee and a tattoo on his right forearm grabbed her, threw her to the ground and tried to rape her.

CHELSEA’S LAW PASSES ASSEMBLY

June 3, 2010 (Sacramento) By a unanimous 65-0 vote, the state Assembly today passed Chelsea’s Law, AB 1844.  Named for murdered Poway High School student Chelsea King, the measure toughens penalties on child predators and creates a one-strike law for the most serious offenders.

ATTEMPTED KIDNAPPING OF 11-YEAR-OLD BOY IN CARMEL VALLEY

June 3, 2010 (San Diego) – San Diego Police are seeking two white men and a woman in a dark-colored SUV with a tire rack and spare tire on the roof. The vehicle approached an 11-year-old boy who was walking home from a tutoring class shortly after 4 p.m. today in the 12700 block of Carmel Country Road. One of the men ordered the victim to get in the vehicle; a woman in the backseat appeared to be holding a handgun, SDPD reports.

ARRESTS MADE IN SHOOTINGS OF TEENS IN EL CAJON: 2 MEN CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER

 

May 26, 2010 (El Cajon)—El Cajon Police have arrested Juan Jose Barba-Hinojosa, 31, and Joshua Gabriel Cordova Sander, 26, for attempted murder. The men are accused of shooting three victims, including a 17-year-old girl and two 18-year-old men last night in El Cajon. Police indicate the crimes may be gang-related.

Police seek 2 suspects in a black SUV

 

May 24, 2010 (San Diego) – A 25-year-old man was shot in a home invasion robbery last night at 6937 Saranac Street in a college-area neighborhood east of San Diego State University. According to San Diego Police Department, the man heard knocking or banging on his front door. He opened to find a robber armed with a gun. The thief and at least one accomplice pushed the victim to the ground and fired one round into his chest, then robbed the victim and two roommates of wallets and cash.

BURNED BODY FOUND BY HIKERS ON MT. LAGUNA

 

May 24, 2010 (San Diego’s East County) – A group of hikers found a severely burned human body yesterday at 11:15 a.m. while hiking approximately two miles west of Sunrise Highway (State Route 1) west of mile marker 18. The San Diego Sheriff's homicide unit is investigating and the identity of the victim is unknown.

TWO MEN WANTED FOR ATTEMPTED KIDNAPPING OF BOY IN EL CAJON

May 20, 2010 (El Cajon) – El Cajon Police seek a red Chevrolet El Camino with silver hubcabs and two men accused of grabbing and trying to kidnap a 12-year-old boy at 8 p.m. tonight in the 99 Cents store at 1766 East Main Street. The same men also allegedly approached a group of boys outside earlier.

One suspect is described as a 55-60 year old white man with white hair, bushy eye brows, and a pot belly. He is approximately 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs 230 pounds, and was wearing a Blue Chargers shirt and tan cargo pants. The other suspect is a white man age 45-50 with brown hair and a mustache. He wore a black T-shirt, blue jeans, brown shoes and a black ball cap.

May 18, 2010 (El Cajon) – Police are seeking a suspect who shot and wounded a man last night around 8:40 p.m. Officers responded to a 911 call in the vicinity of 500 North Mollison in El Cajon. One man had been shot in the abdomen and was transported to a hospital. His injury is not considered life-threatening

MAN ARRESTED FOR HARASSING TEEN GIRL IN RAMONA

 

May 17, 2010 (Ramona) – James Leo Flaherty III has been arrested for following and harassing a 17-year-old girl walking in the 300 block of 16th Street in Ramona. The victim reports that Flaherty drove past her, staring, on Tuesday May 11 and reportedly said, “I am not going to leave you alone.”

 

The victim told authorities that Flaherty had previously followed her and her sister within the past year, placing a pornographic magazine in front of them in the same area.

DUO ROBS WELLS FARGO BANK AT GROSSMONT CENTER

 


May 13, 2010 (La Mesa) – This evening at 5:13 p.m., a man and woman robbed Wells Fargo Bank in the Grossmont Center Mall. They used a demand note and threat of a gun during the robbery, obtaining cash before fleeing on foot.  

 

It was the third East County bank robbery in the past two days, though the events are not believed to be related.

May 13, 2010 (San Diego’s East County) – Shortly after noon yesterday, a tall man wearing a white, stretchy mask passed a demand note to a teller at Chase Bank on Navajo Road near Lake Murray. He claimed to have a bomb and threatened to detonate it with a hand-held device resembling a cell phone.

May 11, 2010 (Santee) – At 9:48 this morning, a man believed to be the “geezer bandit” robbed the Bank of America at 9711 Mission Gorge Road in Santee.

“He had a blue baseball cap and blue sport coat,” said Sergeant Tom Poulin, detective with the Santee Sheriff’s Department. A witness said the robber also had an oxygen tank.

May 10, 2010 (San Diego) – A Hispanic man in his early 20s was stabbed near San Diego State University following an altercation shortly after 3 a.m. on May 9th, San Diego Police report. According to police, words were exchanged between a group of Hispanic men and a group of white men walking in the 5200 block of Falls View in the east college area when a physical altercation ensued.

May 8, 2010 (Lemon Grove) – Two men held up a bank courier for Wells Fargo Bank at 7080 Broadway in Lemon Grove on May 6th at 4:45 p.m. According to San Diego Police, the men acted as if they had a gun and grabbed four bank bags. The thieves may have been disappointed in their haul, however, since the bags contained only account and customer information–-no money.

May 6, 2010 (El Cajon) –On Monday, April 26, a man with a shaved head banged his knuckles against the office window of a prominent Latino rights leader in El Cajon and issued a death threat. 

 

Since then, vandalism and a break-in have occurred, raising concerns that a prominent Latino organizer here may be the target of hate-motivated crimes. Now the victims are fighting back--determined not to let threats of violence intimidate them into silence.

CAR WASH EMPLOYEE STABBED IN RANCHO PENASQUITOS

 

May 5, 2010 (Rancho Penasquitos) – An employee of Berry’s Car Wash at 9821 Carmel Mountain Road was assaulted and stabbed shortly before 8 p.m. last night. The victim, who is in his 30s, was preparing to leave the car wash when he spotted the suspect outside the closed business and asked him to leave.

STOLEN DOG RECOVERED THROUGH MICROCHIP, REUNITED WITH OWNER

 

 

May 4, 2010 (Campo) -- Two dogs--a black and silver Shih Tzu and a white and cream Beagle-mix--were rescued by an Animal Control Officer on April 30th after U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a woman on suspicion of human smuggling on Interstate 8 in the Campo area.

May 3, 2010 (El Cajon) -- El Cajon Police Department received several 911 calls regarding a shooting in the 700 block of S. Orange today. Upon arrival, officers found a 23-year-old male with a single gunshot wound to his upper leg.

BORDER PATROL AGENT SHOOTS MAN AT CIRCLE K IN ALPINE

May 3, 2010 (Alpine) – An off-duty Border Patrol Agent was reportedly pumping gas at a Circle K Station in Alpine last night when he was approached by a man who made threatening and challenging statements. The agent, who was dressed in civilian attire, displayed his badge and pointed a handgun at the still approaching subject, according to a preliminary Sheriff's report.

200 TEENS IN SPRING VALLEY BRAWL

May 1, 2010 (Spring Valley) – A brawl involving 200 or more juveniles at the Spring Valley Community Center may have been gang related, according to the San Diego Sheriff’s office. The rowdy crowd was ultimately dispersed without injuries and no arrests were made.
