February 12, 2024 (Ramona) – Jorge Aguilar, 21, has been arrested for felony vandalism after reportedly ramming his pickup truck into the back gate of the San Diego County Sheriff’s substation in Ramona on Saturday, says Detective Thomas Sutton.

Earlier, around 3 a.m., deputies had stopped six people at the intersection of La Brea and Ramona Streets, arresting three of them for illegal possession of concealed firearms and narcotics, including Aguilar.

He was released from the Ramona Sheriff's Substation with a notice to appear in court. The two others who were arrested were booked on felony firearm and drug related charges.

“At around 7:30 a.m., Aguilar returned to the Ramona Sheriff’s Substation in a pickup truck, rammed the back gate and fled the scene before deputies could respond,”  Sutton says. “ Deputies identified Aguilar as the driver of the vehicle thanks to nearby residents who witnessed the collision.”

Shortly after that, deputies located Aguilar's damaged truck parked at his home in Ramona and arrested him.

Based on the severity of the damage caused to the gate, Aguilar now faces an additional charge of felony vandalism. He was booked at the San Diego Central Jail.
