THOUSANDS OF SAN DIEGANS TO ATTEND ISRAEL FEST ON APRIL 26

April 23, 2015 (San Diego) – The Jewish Federation of San Diego County[1] and community partners announce the annual community celebration of Yom Ha’atzmaut[2] – Israeli Independence Day. On Sunday, April 26, Israel Fest[3] will be held at the Nobel Athletic Field in UTC[4] from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  This is a free event to celebrate Israel and educate the local community about Israeli culture. The entire Jewish community of San Diego will be participating, including Friendship Circle of San Diego[5], which will be kicking off the day with the annual Friendship Walk[6] at 9AM to benefit children with special needs. State Senator, Marty Block and  Congressman, Juan Vargas will be in attendance.

Last year more than 5,000 attendees came to the event. Israel Fest is intended as “a day of family fun, a community-wide celebration of Israel, and a celebration of our local San Diego Jewish community,” a press release states. This year’s Israel Fest will feature live-music from Jewish singer and songwriter, Craig Taubman, Israeli dancing by Yoni Car, plenty of local entertainment, kosher and delicious food, group activities, and more! Israel Fest will have something to offer for the whole family, including kid’s activities, sports and games, teen programs, arts and crafts, a senior’s club area, and much more.
