January 29, 2024 (El Cajon) -- The City of El Cajon is going to the dogs! Literally! They are trying to break the world record for the most dogs to watch a movie screening together. The current record of 219 dogs was set by a bunch of bored pooches in September 2023.

Organizers in El Cajon will attempt to break the record with Beethoven, a 1992 American family comedy film that features a St. Bernard dog who causes all kinds of trouble for his human family. Maybe he didn’t hear his owners yelling at him to stop!

The event is scheduled to take place at Wells Park, located at 1153 East Madison Avenue in El Cajon 92021, Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 1 p.m. That’s right, you don't have to get up early to join this canine crowd.

It is important to make sure that your dog(s) is/are vaccinated and not aggressive, because no one wants any fights or fleas at this event. There will also be plenty of fun activities for kids. This is a fun event for dog lovers and one for the record books!

Disclaimer: If your dog isn't used to big crowds with lots of people and dogs, this might not be the best time for Fido to make their film debut, even if it is the best place. Wells Park has an excellent area for dogs, so plan on getting some extra practice in before the big event and perhaps introduce Fido to the venue on a day with fewer people to let them (and you) get more comfortable with the space.

Whether or not the event breaks any records, organizers want it to be a fun, safe, and enjoyable day for everyone involved, especially for wo/man's pawesome best friends.
