May 9, 2011 (San Diego) -- Getting a ticket for running a red-light equipped with camera can be a costly mistake, with fines that can run hundreds of dollars in some areas. Photo Enforcement
I received a notice that I didn't pay a toll road fee in Orange county. The payment amount went from $63 to $106 after three weeks then there would be a lien on my vehicle registration!
I have never been on the toll road. I challenged the agency to offer proof and was sent a blurry image of a plate. I refused to pay.

I thought those cameras can capture only in dark.

Kearny Villa @ Balboa
Does anyone know if turning on red from Southbound Kearny Villa to Balboa is enforced? I had my picture taken making that turn on Oct 13th. Since I live in North Carolina, I cannot get the most up-to-date information on the intersection. The closest I've gotten is Google Street View, which may be outdated; showing a 'yeild' lane and photo enforced placard on the light post (no indication of Right Turn restriction). I think I read that San Diego has recently updated their photo enforcement equipment (and fines of course). I cannot be certain that this intersection implemented a right turn violation with the upgrade. Any help would be appreciated as I wait for a potential violation to make its way through its processes.
Really, a Red Light Camera in Santee?
Santee: Cuyamaca and Mission Gorge Road? Where is the traffic sign "photo enforcement"? I think I ran over the red light yesterday May 14th, 2011. I check this website today and i think i should get my case dismissed because there was no traffic sign showing "photo enforcment" or its missing. I'm just worried and angry right now. I don't deserve it and there should always be a traffic sign for drivers on the road to be aware at all cost. It's ridiculous to receive a ticket in the mail of not knowing there was a red light camera planted, seriously because i remember clearly there was no traffic sign "no photo enforcement" posted 300 yards in advanced or on traffic light.

Speed cameras coming next!
While this list of existing cameras is nice, I am concerned about the motoring legislation going thru Sacramento right now, and the fact that no one seems to be writing about it.
There is a bill to legalize photo enforcement of speed, a.k.a. photo radar (AB 1311).
There is a bill that started out good, to do something about the 1.5 million cars with protected plates (these are the cars that our government employees and their families own, and the plates make them immune to camera tickets). That bill, AB 3, has just been amended into worthlessness, no doubt because of pressure from govt. employee organizations.
And, unlike last year's AB 909 (which was vetoed by Gov. Schwarzenegger), no legislator has had the courage to write a bill doing something about the fine for rolling right photo tickets.
If you are concerned, call your state legislators (assemblyperson and state senator.)
