May 16, 2026 (Borrego Springs) — Ram Media Foundation has launched a new community media apprenticeship initiative designed to provide local youth and emerging creators with hands-on experience in journalism, digital media, photography, video production, social media, marketing, and community communication.

The program has been made possible in part through a very generous donation from a private individual who wishes to remain anonymous. Ram Media Foundation extends its sincere gratitude for this meaningful support, which is helping open doors for local youth to gain real-world experience in journalism, storytelling, and digital media while serving the Borrego Springs community.

The apprenticeship program follows the Foundation’s recent acquisition of the historic Borrego Sun newspaper and expansion of its digital community media network.

Participants will help create content for local news coverage, community events, nonprofit organizations, arts and culture, tourism, and regional storytelling while gaining practical experience with modern digital publishing and communication platforms.

“We want to create meaningful opportunities for local youth to develop real-world media and communication skills while helping strengthen the community,” said Ram Media Foundation Director Gabriel Wisdom of American Money Management LLC. “This initiative combines journalism, creativity, technology, and civic engagement in a way that can benefit both participants and the broader Borrego community.”

Executive Director Andrea McKenna said interns are already contributing to projects involving local storytelling, event coverage, social media outreach, and online community engagement.

“This is more than an internship program,” McKenna said. “It is an opportunity for young people to help shape how their community communicates and connects in the digital age.”

The program also supports local businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations by helping strengthen their online presence, digital storytelling, and social media communication.

Ram Media Foundation’s media initiatives include BorregoSun.com, GoToBorregoSprings.com, and non-commercial radio station KRAM 90.5 FM.
