Filing period July 12 through August 6

July 7, 2010 (San Diego) — Any registered voter in San Diego county can file to run for public office at the local level–free! Positions up for election in this November’s election include important positions on the governing boards of schools, colleges, water districts, fire districts, planning boards etc.

Many seats for local boards and commissions are filled by people who run unopposed or wind up appointed to fill vacancies because no candidates signed up to run.  This is a good opportunity to get involved in local government and make a positive difference in a community.

The filing period opens July 12 and closes August 6.

The San Diego County Registrar of Voters has released the 2010 candidate handbook which can be viewed at: http://www.sdcounty.ca.gov/voters/Eng/election/110210candguide.pdf
