October 10, 2013 (Alpine) –  An infant girl delivered by emergency Caesarean after her mother was fatally injured in a car accident has also died of injuries from the crash.  The medical examiner identified the newborn as Baby Oliver.

Darneshia McFarlin, 27, was eight months pregnant when the accident occurred the morning of October 6th.   She was a passenger in an Oldsmobile driven by her husband when he lost control and the vehicle rolled over.

McFarlin was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital,  where her baby was delivered.  Despite medical intervention, she died shortly after arrival and the infant was pronounced dead shortly after delivery. According to the Medical Examiner, blunt force injuries sustained in the accident caused the deaths of both mother and child.

McFarlin lived in El Cajon with her family.
