CITY OF LA MESA HOSTS COMMUNITY DISASTER PLANNING SEMINAR

October 19, 2023 (La Mesa) – In observance of National Preparedness Month, the City of La Mesa, in collaboration with the City’s Community Relations and Veterans Commission, Heartland Fire & Rescue, and the County of San Diego Office of Emergency Services, will host the upcoming Livable La Mesa Community Conversation. This event aims to educate La Mesa residents on creating a ‘personal disaster plan’ and effectively assisting friends and family with disabilities or unique access needs during emergencies.

“Presentations and educational opportunities like this are very important,” Rich Gann, Community Relations, and Veterans Commission Chair, said. “Being able to host the County of San Diego and Heartland Fire here in La Mesa will ensure that all our residents are prepared in case an emergency hits.”

Barbara Ayers, Senior Emergency Services Coordinator for the San Diego County Office of Emergency Services will present various disasters scenarios that may strike East County and detail how each household can prepare for them.
