December 11, 2010 (La Mesa) – This morning at 3 a.m., a man wearing a black bandana tried to rob the Shell Station at 5302 Lake Murray Blvd. The clerk noticed that the “weapon” held by the suspect was a glove folded in the shape of a gun. So when the would-be thief demanded money, the clerk armed himself with a screw driver and told the suspect to leave.

Police have not yet "fingered" this glove-wielding suspect, who fled without the cash.

According to La Mesa Police, the suspect was last seen driving north on Lake Murray Blvd. in a dark, early-90s Nissan or Honda four-door vehicle.

The suspect is described as a white man in his early 20s, 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, medium build, with blue or green eyes. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, black and white shoes and a black bandana across his face.
