December 8, 2011 (El Cajon) – The San Diego District Attorney has declined to prosecute an El Cajon Police Sergeant accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old male volunteer.

El Cajon Police department learned of the allegation on August 28, one day after the alleged assault occurred in Alpine.

After concluding its investigation, The San Diego County Sheriff investigators submitted thecase to The District Attorney’s Office for review.  The El Cajon Police Department received notice from the Sheriff’s that the case had been rejected by the DA’s office for lack of evidence to support the allegations.

The El Cajon Police Department is conducting an internal administrative investigation into the allegations. The sergeant was placed on administrative leave on August 28 and will remain on leave during the investigation.

“We have determined through our investigation that this case involves only one police sergeant and one police volunteer,” Police Chief Pat Sprecco said.
