July 20, 2019 (San Diego's East County) - Here's what East County alumni in pro sports did this week:

July 14

Valhalla product Greg Garcia went 1 for 4 with a single for the San Diego Padres as they were defeated by the Atlanta Braves 4-1. 

Granite Hills product Travis Taijeron went 2 for 4 with a double and a single for the Syracuse Mets as they defeated the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 5-3. 
 

July 15
 
Travis Taijeron had a big day at the plate for the Syracuse Mets as he went 2 for 5 with a two-run homer in the first inning along with a three-run homer in the ninth inning as they defeated the Indianapolis Indians 20-1.  Taijeron now has 19 homers for the Mets. 
 
July 17
 
Greg Garcia went 2 for 4 with two singles, one RBI and one run scored for the San Diego Padres as they defeated the Florida Marlins 3-2. 
 
Travis Taijeron went 3 for 3 with two home runs, one single, four runs scored and three RBIs for the Syracuse Mets as they defeated the Indianapolis Indians 15-5.
 
July 18
 
Big day for former West Hills and San Diego State product Steven Strasburg, as he improves his record to 12-4 on the season, pitching 5.1 innings and giving up eight hits, three runs (three earned), two walks and striking out seven.  With the bat, he went 3 for 3 with a three-run homer, two singles, five RBIs and two runs scored for the Washington Nationals as they defeated the Atlanta Braves 13-4. 
 
July 19
 
Greg Garcia went 1 for 1 with a single for the Padres as they were defeated 6-5 by the Chicago Cubs. 
 
Travis Taijeron went 1 for 3 with a triple along with one RBI for the Syracuse Mets as they defeated the Toledo Mud Hens 2-1. 

July 20

Grossmont High product Joe Musgrove started on the mound for the Pittsburgh Pirates as his record improves to 7-8 on the season as he pitched six innings, giving up two hits, one run, two walks and struck out eight.  With the bat, he went 1 for 2 with a double and one run scored. 

Travis Taijeron went 1 for 5 with a single with one run scored for the Syracuse Mets as they defeated the Toledo Mud Hens 11-5.
