February 28, 2024 (El Cajon) – Four days after being released from jail, a homeless registered sex offender on parole is behind bars again. Samuel Salas, 36, was arrested Feb. 26 after entering a woman’s apartment on South Magnolia in El Cajon.

“The man grabbed a purse before the woman confronted him. The victim's daughter called the police as the man fled the apartment,” says Lieutenant Keith MacArthur with El Cajon Police Department.

Officers found the suspect a short distance away, with keys from the management office.

According to police, Salas has a lengthy arrest history. In December, El Cajon Police Department arrested Salas in El Cajon for a parole violation. Despite his lengthy arrest history and his continued failure to comply with parole conditions, Salas was released from custody on February 22, victimizing another person in less than one week.
