LA MESA POLICE ARREST SUSPECT IN TROLLEY BEATING

July 9, 2015 (La Mesa) – A 17-year-old has been arrested and charged with assault involving great bodily injury for a beating that occurred at the La Mesa Trolley Station on La Mesa Boulevard on June 13th at 8 p.m.

The victim, a 52 year old man, was struck multiple times and kicked in the head after he exited the trolley. The victim was transported to Alvarado Hospital, where he was treated for head and facial injuries, then released.

La Mesa Police responded to a report of the crime, but the suspect had left the scene.  LMPD officers later obtained surveillance video from the trolley and began an investigation.

Yesterday at noon, LMPD’s Special Enforcement Detail Team and U.S. Marshalls arrested the suspect at a home in San Bernadino. He has been transported back to San Diego and  booked at Juvenile Hall, charged with assault involving great bodily injury. The motive is unknown at this time, according to LMPD.
