LA MESA SEEKS VETERANS TO VOLUNTEER FOR AGING AND VETERANS COMMITEE

March 8, 2012 (La Mesa)--The City of La Mesa seeks  two veterans to serve on the newly reorganized Aging and Veterans Commission.

Applicants must live within La Mesa city limits and be either an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. armed forces, an active duty armed forces member serving in a civilian capacity, or a member of a veterans service organization based in La Mesa which is federally chartered and/or recognized by the Department of Veterans Affairs for claim representation.

Applications may be obtained by accessing the City of La Mesa website, www.cityoflamesa.com or from the City Clerk’s office in La Mesa City Hall, 8130 Allison Avenue, during normal business hours.

The Commission serves as an voluntary advisory body to the City Council on matters pertaining to programs, projects, and issues which address the concerns of the senior adults and veterans in the community. It is the responsibility of the Commission to explore issues and develop activities that will promote positive senior adult and veteran relations in the City of La Mesa.

Commission meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. at the La Mesa Adult Enrichment Center, 8450 La Mesa Boulevard, La Mesa.
