October 2, 2010 (San Diego) – San Diego Police homicide detectives are investigating the shooting death of a male inside a Teralta East apartment in the 4300 block of 54th Street. At 3:50 a.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting at the apartment complex.

They found a 21-year-old woman with a gunshot wound that is not considered life-threatening. Officers learned that the victim and other people were leaving a third floor apartment when several males confronted them. One of the males issued a gang challenge, and a fight ensued. During the fight, several shots rang out. The female was struck by one round, and the suspect(s) fled. There is no description of the shooter.

As officers were investigating the shooting, a first floor resident suggested officers check another apartment, as they noticed a male lying inside the doorway. Officers went to the first floor unit and found a deceased male, dead of an apparent gunshot wound.

Detectives have not yet entered the decedent’s apartment, so no additional details are known. The deceased victim is currently unidentified.

Anyone with information about the shooting or apparent homicide is encouraged to call the Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
