Get ready to witness a different kind of learning experience this fall at the Encore! Theatre in Spring Valley. The Young Actors’ Theatre is set to bring to life the beloved musical animated series School House Rock come September. It’s sure to be a fun, knowledge-infused event for the whole family.

School House Rock ran for seven seasons on American television as part of children’s programming. Its educational content and catchy songs made it a favorite of educators as well. The videos were sometimes played in elementary school classes as part of the learning curriculum.

The show consisted of different series; ‘Grammar Rock’ for instance taught children things such as the proper use of ‘nouns’, ‘verbs’, and ‘adjectives’. Who can forget ‘Conjunction Junction’? It taught children through the clever use of trains how to use ‘and’, ‘but’, and ‘or’ to effectively ‘hook up’ phrases and words. While the ‘America Rock’ series, focused on American law and government. Its most famous song, ‘I’m Just a Bill’ creatively explains the process of how a bill becomes a law through the use of easy to understand animations and lyrics.

It’s going to be a show that both kids and adults will enjoy. Some of the children might be hearing these songs for the first time, while some adults will be reminiscing about their childhood and maybe even singing along with the actors on stage.

School House Rock will have eight shows, running from September 9 through September 18 at Encore! Theatre located at 9620 Campo Road in Spring Valley. Tickets are now available for $12 and $15 depending on seat location. For more information visit www.yatsandiego.org or call (619) 670-1627.
