October 19, 2011 (La Mesa) O’Dunn Fine Art will unveil the Ireland Paintings Exhibition by Paul Strahm, a signature treatment that examines the Irish countryside, street scenes, coast and waterways. The collection of 14 paintings will be on display from October 22 – November 27, 2011 and are available for pre-sale.

In addition, the public is invited to meet the artist Saturday, October 22, from 5-8 p.m. The reception will include music by harpist Mair Rathburn. The art exhibition is open to the public and admission is free.

Paul Strahm has returned from Ireland with a second place award from Art in the Open (AITO) 2011, Europe's largest plein air painting event. (Plein air painting is French for “in the open air” and is used to describe paintings which are executed outdoors on location as opposed to in the artist’s studio.)

Strahm was the only American to receive an award in this year's paint-out, which included over 100 artists from Ireland and around the globe. Under the sponsorship of O'Dunn Fine Art, Paul painted in various parts of the country as well as at several AITO venues.

Paul Strahm, a San Diego-based artist, brings out America’s finest city in his vivid, internationally collected paintings. Each image is thoughtfully painted to capture the landscape, lifestyle of the area, and its people.

Strahm’s passion for painting began when he was young; his rural Ohio upbringing allowed him to intimately explore nature on his family’s country farm. He attended Youngstown State University where he studied art and became fascinated with the French Impressionist painter, Paul Cezanne. After receiving his fine arts degree in painting, he moved to San Diego. He was born in Columbus, Ohio and has lived in San Diego since 1985.

Strahm has been painting full-time professionally since January of 1997 and part-time professionally since 1992. The medium is mostly oil and he prefers to paint landscapes and seascapes.
