RAMONA WOMAN ARRESTED FOR SETTING HOUSE ON FIRE

October 9, 2023 (Ramona) -- A woman has been arrested on suspicion of deliberately starting a house fire in Ramona early this morning.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department received a call around 6 a.m. from one of two residents at a home in the 200 block of Haley Street,  stating that their house was on fire.   

Deputies from the Ramona Sheriff's Substation and firefighters from CAL FIRE San Diego responded and arrived in minutes. They found the home fully engulfed in flames,” says Detective Dan Wilson. “Both residents were outside with no reported injuries.”

Detectives from the Sheriff's Bomb/Arson Unit were called to the scene to investigate and  determined the fire was intentional.

One of the residents, Susanne Buixasa, 57, was arrested for arson. She was booked into the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility in Santee.

The Sheriff's Bomb/Arson Unit is a regional resource that investigates fires involving suspicious circumstances, serious injuries, and death.
